Hoosier Firm to Sell Disinfecting Robots
Hammond-based industrial marketing firm O’Day’s Inc. has struck a deal with
a European company to distribute a line of high-tech disinfection robots in
the Midwest.
The UVD Robot uses ultraviolet light to prevent and reduce the spread of
infectious diseases in a variety of sectors, such as hospitals, commercial
spaces, and transit systems.
The Denmark-based company says the robot uses UV-C lighting to treat spaces,
such as hospital rooms, in as little as 10 minutes.
The autonomous machine scans a space and creates a digital map, allowing it
to operate on its own.
“This leading-edge technology solution can augment existing cleaning and
disinfection protocols to more effectively and efficiently kill viruses and
bacteria,” said Steve O’Day, president and chief executive officer.
O’Day says hundreds of the UVD Robots have been deployed to locations around
the world including Wuhan, China to help in the battle against COVID-19.
