Dr. Rudy Yung Named Ophthalmologist of the Year

Rudy Yung, M.D., was named Ophthalmologist of the Year for 2019 by the
Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology (IAO). He was honored during the annual IAO
meeting earlier this year. According to the IAO, the award is given to an
ophthalmologist who has made outstanding contributions to the academy and
enhanced the profession of ophthalmology.

Dr. Yung has served as the chief of ophthalmology at Eskenazi Health for 30
years. He is the clinical director for Eskenazi Health Eye Care, located on
the sixth floor of the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center. Dr. Yung is a
professor of ophthalmology with the department of ophthalmology at IU School
of Medicine and is the director of medical student education in
ophthalmology. He is a faculty sponsor of the IU Ophthalmology Student
Interest Group (OSIG) and a volunteer supervising faculty in the Student
Outreach Eye Clinic, which is run by OSIG.

Dr. Yung serves as a board member of IAO, is a fellow of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He is an
associate member of the Association of University Professors of
Ophthalmology (AUPO), an associate examiner for the American Board of
Ophthalmology (ABO), and a member of its Comprehensive Ophthalmology Exam
Items Writing Committee. He has received numerous teaching awards from IUSM
over the years and has been named one of the Top Doctors in Ophthalmology by
Indianapolis Monthly every year since 2008.
